Team building is what?

If translated into Vietnamese, this term means “building a team.” Essentially, team building is an activity that develops a group of individuals into a cohesive team through games and challenges. Through pre-arranged situations and challenges, they will draw practical lessons that are positive in nature to adjust their behavior and attitude when working together towards a common goal.

Team building is also known for supporting newly established companies, companies with a number of new employees, or companies with many employee conflicts, employees showing signs of boredom, and lack of creativity…

Team building helps members clearly identify the common goals of the group and creates opportunities for interaction among members to unite and “fight” to achieve those goals. The challenges and games in team building are not just for fun; their content aims to build team spirit.

The effectiveness of team building activities is increasingly affirmed not only for the purpose of building teams but also recognized for many other important benefits such as training soft skills: “leadership skills,” “time management,” “communication,” “human resource management,” etc. In particular, team building has contributed significantly to the construction of the “corporate culture” of companies.

How important is “corporate culture” to a business?

According to a general definition, corporate culture encompasses all cultural values built throughout the existence and development of a business, influencing the feelings, thought patterns, and behaviors of all members within the company. It is also the uniqueness and tradition of each business.

Corporate culture originates from the values of the company, creating a common spirit within the enterprise. You can see that Google is a place filled with everything from karaoke rooms to food storage, beautiful workspaces, and a creative working style – a dream place. Similarly to Google and Facebook, in Vietnam, companies like Vingroup and FPT have exemplary cultures that other businesses cannot easily replicate.

The components of corporate culture include vision, mission, and core values. These components are expressed through tangible elements (uniforms, rituals, activities, general regulations…) and intangible elements (attitudes, styles, habits, creativity…).

Building a positive, creative, vibrant, and energetic culture is very challenging. Many leaders have made the mistake of imposing culture without inspiring employees to recognize the value of that culture. Employees need to proactively wear uniforms or apply the cultural values of the company because they feel proud, not just because it is part of their job.

Large corporations around the world are closely associated with a strong corporate culture. When corporate culture develops, both the business and its members can connect and grow together.

So how can we develop corporate culture?

Teambuilding is one of the useful tools for building a company’s culture, as this activity has common goals linked to the development of corporate culture.

The first common point is that both create a team rather than just building a crowd, producing heroes instead of “forcing” them to become heroes.

Secondly, teambuilding helps a team have a clear goal, outlining a way to achieve that goal without giving up, always praising those who are creative, willing to take risks, and take responsibility, which are essential elements of a corporate culture.

Thirdly, large teambuilding companies in Vietnam, such as Du Lịch Độc Đáo, frequently develop program ideas that are connected to the unique culture of each business, creating a consistent content to affirm and promote positive values such as dynamism, creativity, and solidarity, while eliminating negative values like division and lack of cooperation.

Wednesday, teambuilding supports corporate culture by creating a common environment for leaders and employees to engage in dialogue and collaborate while overcoming the challenges of the program. Through these challenges, those with leadership potential will reveal their strengths, while those who are shy or have a large ego will be filtered out. This is the best method for leaders to easily assess employee capabilities.

Thursday, teambuilding is the most effective tool for communicating the values of corporate culture. The trips and activities in teambuilding are where employees can open their hearts to embrace the cultural values that the company wants to convey.

Finally, teambuilding helps businesses build a more complete and distinctive culture. If they can invest in organizing annual events, companies can develop basic cultural foundations into valuable assets of their own, even if these are intangible assets such as attitudes, styles, creativity, or an employee’s loyalty to the company. Therefore, it can be said that teambuilding is the “golden key” for a business to achieve further goals in the future.
