- About the Origin – Visiting Cu Chi Tunnels.
The Cu Chi Tunnels, located about 70 km northwest of downtown Ho Chi Minh City, are a miniature battlefield showcasing the creativity and resilience of the Cu Chi people during the long and fierce resistance war lasting 30 years against the invading enemy, fighting for independence and freedom for the nation. The Cu Chi Tunnels historical site is a piece of “steel land, indomitable” of the homeland. Here, the delegation can watch documentary footage, listen to stories about heroic feats and battles, and each union member feels as if they are returning to a glorious past, witnessing the scale and grandeur of the construction while directly visiting the tunnels.
- Visiting the Can Gio Biosphere Reserve – Dan Xay Ecotourism Area.
The Can Gio Mangrove Forest World Biosphere Reserve (DTSQTG RNM) is the first biosphere reserve in Vietnam, recognized by UNESCO on January 21, 2000. Within the Can Gio Mangrove Forest World Biosphere Reserve, there are three conservation areas for animal species, including:
• The bird sanctuary (Vam Sat Bird Sanctuary) is home to about 2,000 individuals of 33 species of birds, including 26 resident species and 7 migratory species
• The bat sanctuary (Bat Lagoon) in sub-zone 15a is home to more than 500 individuals of bats, mainly the Pteropus lylei species;
• The monkey sanctuary (Monkey Island), with a population of long-tailed macaques (Maccaca fascicularis) exceeding 1,000 individuals.
In addition, the Can Gio Mangrove Forest World Biosphere Reserve is also home to many rare plant and animal species listed in the Vietnam Red Book (2007).
